Today there are more than 1500 shoe brands all over the world. Some of them have a long history and some of them not.

Aldo one of the oldest brands in shoes business. Nowadays company’s annual revenue is more than $1 billion and staff counts near 15 000 employees. But their way to the top wasn’t quick.

History ALDO

Founder of Aldo Group Inc Aldo Bensadoun was born in Morocco, but his family almost immediately moved to south of France.  His father was shoe merchant and grandfather was a cobbler. Bensadoun began his studies at Cornell University in the U.S.A at 1959, but one weekend trip to Montreal changed his life. He was so charmed by the beauty of this city that decided to transfer to McGill University in Montreal. Next to graduation, Bensadoun returned to France to complete his military service and to briefly teach economics in Saumur. Shortly thereafter, he returns to his beloved city, making Montreal his home in 1966.

Aldo Shoes is founded as a footwear concession within a chain of popular fashion boutiques Le Château. First group includes 4 stores in Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, and Winnipeg. The first freestanding ALDO store opens in Montreal only in 1978.

But by 1980 Aldo Shoes was independent and strongly stands on feets. Company began rapidly expanding, establishing its credo — "Quality and cutting-edge trends at affordable prices, season after season."  Trade name ALDO became a well known brand in Canada and the result was in 95 freestanding stores that appeared in the next 13 years.

By 1993 it was tight in Canada to Aldo shoes, and company continues its widening. They enter the US market by opening first store near Boston, Massachusetts. Next year ALDO ventures in Israel under a franchise agreement.

During next 8 years, approximately 130 stores open only in the U.S. The empire grows everywhere in North America.

Success in Israel urge the company and ALDO grants franchise rights in Saudi Arabia and in United Arab Emirates in 2001. Next year London could not withstand, and another year Aldo shoes was wearings in Singapoure. Today continuing expansion of ALDO doesn’t stop. Near 900 stores of Aldo shoes empire operates in 49 countries across all continents. Only Antarctica left untouched.

Present Time

ALDO constantly develops and always monitoring last fashion trends, embodying them in their own collections. Collections are featuring by the styles taken from numerous trends from all over world, allowing consumers to have a global sight at a fashion. Atmosphere in ALDO’s shops is modern and fresh.

ALDO is more than simply brand, it is style of a life, of individuality. And despite that the company continues to grow fast, it does not lose the distinction and makes qualitative service as main aim. ALDO grows on three principles which were used by its founder and the general director, Mr. Aldo Bensadoun, since the first day — love, honesty and respect.

Company represents men’s and women’s collection of casual and classic shoes twice in a year, and collection of accessories, including hats, handbags, clocks, costume jewellery. ALDO try to cover every style of footwear: men’s and women’s shoes and sandals and boots. Fashion-forward style of the company can be detected with unaided eye – Aldo shoes successfully tries to make fashion shoes affordable to everybody. Like the shoes, the ALDO accessories are in a designer-inspired style.

Today company manufacturing shoes and accessories under six retail banners: ALDO, ALDO Accessories, Spring (Spring is an international brand with more than 200 stores in Canada, U. S., Asia, and the Middle East. It was founded in 1991. Spring is a well known brand, it offers a great selection of shoes at affordable prices.), Feetfirst ( First store with name Feetfirst opened in 1996, and today they have more than 70 stores in Canada and U.S. (there it known as FIRST) Feetfirst is an international footwear brand with exclusive private label), GLOBO (Brand started in 1992 and today they are large shoe-for-family store chain in Canada. They have large choice of fashion-right footwear for any needs — from casual to dressy, athletic to infants). Little Burgundy (This is the highest concentration for branded footwear, handbags and accessories. Little Burgundy offers the latest styles from over 70 world-class brands, e.g. Diesel, Energie, Juicy Couture, Converse, Vans, Foramina and etc).

ALDO works with YouthAIDS well-known program that tries to prevent the spread of of HIV/AIDS by using media, pop culture, sports, music and cinema. This program reaches millions young people all over the world with products, services, and care. ALDO has gathered more than $10 million in total since 1985 for charity needs. In 2005, company launched ALDO Fights AIDS campaign. This campaign was promoted in 22 countries, and raised millions of dollars for AIDS programs around the world, because of help of such celebrities as Charlize Theron, Ludacris, Adrian Brody etc.
Also ALDO has some fundraising products for sale (including Aldo shoes, Aldo accessories, handbags and clocks) This is call ALDO Fights AIDS program. Аll money from sailing of these products goes to charity. ALDO fights AIDS products has generated $3.5 million in donations.
Company donates 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of each item to YouthAIDS.

ALDO has made his name synonymous with the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Also company cares about environment - ALDO designed a new shoebox made with recycled material with a handle and promote it actively.
